The dismantling process finally closes the life of an airplane that previously served as a maintenance training platform in England.

Last month an entrepreneur is a 48th Maintenance Group made on behalf of the dismantlingcrushed and disassembled the torso. The machine was used for ground educational purposes, allowing technical staff to practice procedures without the risks and costs of operating aircraft.
After the training task was completed, it was decided to disassemble the machine instead of sending it for long -term storage. The process involves the destruction of the torso and the main components to prevent the aircraft from re-commissioning-unlike the traditional method, when the extracted aircraft are transported to “airports”, where they retain a lot for parts mining or possible reactivation.
The F–15B Eaglea two -gear fighter jet by a McDonnell Douglas (today Boeing) developed, since the 1970s, the military flight icon and served both USAFall in allied air forces. Despite gradually more modern versions, the type is still active in some countries.
According to the 48th Maintenance Group, the base dismantling follows strict protocols, ensuring removing or destroying all sensitive systems, while being recovered as recyclable materials.
The disassembly of the F -15B indicates the end of its supporting role in RAF Lakenheath’s training mission. The base that is the 48th Fighter Wing home, continues to operate up -to -date aircraft such as F–15E Strike Eagle and the latest F–35A Lightning IIwhile older types like F -15B are completely withdrawn from traffic.
A LN Tail marked F15-B (Pictured, 76-124) and F15-C 84-001, both remain at RAF Lakenheath and have been used as Instructional airframes. As far as I know, mainly as training aircraft exclusive for technicians/MX.
