Just over six months after returning to the White House, President Donald Trump completely changed the direction of global politics and economy, based on the “America in the First” motto, the same as his first term (2017-2021).
Since January, the Republican has established policies to align the country with values they consider most necessary to recover the status of American status. Trump resumed the repression of illegal immigration, deporting thousands of foreigners who resided without the consent of the government; imposed global tariffs on foreign partners – Brazil received the highest tax for political reasons and freedom of expression; and has accumulated some successes to mediate international conflicts.
These measures have attracted popularity to Trump amid party allies, who have already presented different proposals to honor him in national symbols alongside the great presidents of American history.
Tribute in the US $ 100 grade
In April, Republican Deputy Brandon Gill (Texas representative) presented a bill to replace Benjamin Franklin’s name and image in the $ 100 grade, in wide circulation in the country since 1914. The tribute to the founding father of the United States would be replaced by one of Trump.
Changes in bank notes are rare, but it has happened in the country’s history. In 1929, President Andrew Jackson replaced President Grover Cleveland in the $ 20 grade.
A similar measure was presented by Deputy Joe Wilson of South Carolina. The difference is that the congressman proposed the creation of a new $ 250 note, with the face of President Donald Trump. Currently, a federal law that dates back to 1866 prohibits the use of the image of a living person in the American currency.
Face on Mount Rushmore
From the first term, Trump expresses the desire to stamp Mount Rushmore alongside other presidents of American history.
The current secretary of internal security, Kristi Noem, at the time governor of the southern Dakota, came to present it with a model that included his face in the US emblematic monument.
In January, Republican Deputy Anna Pauline Luna, from Florida, presented a bill in this regard. The bill was sent to the House’s Natural Resources Committee, which has not yet commented on the possibility.
The iconic Monte Rushmore, located in the national memorial in Southern Dakota, features the face of four former US presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt.
Rename the Kenneth Center and the White House Opera
Another bill that is analyzed in the House of Representatives refers to renamed the Kenneth Center in honor of President Donald Trump and his opera home in honor of the first lady Melania Trump. The measure was sponsored by Idaho Mike Simpson.
Last month, the melania related proposal received the endorsement on a republican majority commission. Congressmen justified at the time that it would be a way of recognizing their support and commitment to the arts.
The measure is now part of the fundamental legislation to finance the Department of the Interior, but would still need to be passed by the House and Senate to become law.
On the day after the approval of the Commission, Republican Deputy Bob Onder, from Missouri, presented the bill entitled “Make Entertainment Great Again Act“To rename the whole center as”Donald J. Trump Center for Performing Arts“. The House has not yet taken any measure of the suggestion.
Three former Kennedy Center council member told NBC News That the law that created the center prohibited any of the facilities renamed, except for the Eisenhower Theater, in honor of the president whose government authorized its construction for the first time in 1958.
