United States President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will meet next Friday (15) in the state of Alaska. The announcement was made by Trump himself, this Friday (8), in his social network Truth Social.
“The long-awaited meeting between me, as president of the United States of America, and President Vladimir Putin of Russia will take place next Friday, August 15, 2025, in the great state of Alaska. More details will be released soon. Thanks for this subject!” He wrote.
The meeting between Trump and Putin is expected to take place after months of negotiations between American, Russian and Ukrainian representatives to discuss the end of the Eastern European war. According to sources heard by the US press, the meeting is expected to meet a concrete proposal of ceasefire in Ukraine, with discussions about territory control today under illegal occupation of Russia. Putin has argued that any ceasefire agreement must recognize what he calls “Russian sovereignty” about Crimea and Ukraine regions – points considered unacceptable by Kiev.
The meeting will be the first between Trump and Putin since the Republican returned to the White House in January. It will also be Putin’s first visit to the US since 2015. In broader terms, this will be the first formal meeting between US and Russia presidents since 2021.
