United States President Donald Trump charged on Thursday that Lip-BU Tan, new CEO of the Intel Computer Industry Giant, resign due to calls with China.
“The CEO of Intel is in a situation of great conflict and should immediately resign. There is no other solution to this problem,” Trump wrote on the Truth Social network.
Tan was born in Malaysia and has American citizenship. Since March, he has been CEO of Intel.
In April, Reuters published a report that pointed out that Tan invested at least $ 200 million in hundreds of Chinese Advanced Industry companies and chips, some of which linked to the Asian country’s armed forces.
On Wednesday (6), Republican Senator Tom Cotton had sent a letter to Intel’s chairman with questions about Tan’s ties with Chinese companies and a recent criminal process involving Cadence Design, of which Malaysian was CEO from 2008 to 2021.
According to Reuters, the company, which produces chips design software, has sold products to a Chinese military university, allegedly involved in simulating nuclear explosions.
In July, Cadence Design reached an agreement with the American court to declare themselves to blame for accusations related to these sales and pay a fine of about $ 140 million.
Neither Tan nor Intel has yet commented on Trump’s comment for the CEO to resign.
