The Israeli government will meet on Thursday to discuss and possibly approve the execution of a new plan to defeat what is left of Hamas’s terrorist forces and free the last hostages that are kept in the Gaza Strip-it is estimated that there are 20 living.
The new operation, scheduled to last from four to five months, allows the expansion of the control of Israeli troops in vast areas of the Palestinian enclave, some that have not yet been according to information revealed by the local press the day before.
According to the newspaper Times of Israelthe plan would begin with control of the city of Gaza, in the north of the track, and Campos in the central strip. The population that is in these regions would be moved south, towards the humanitarian zone of Mawasi.
In addition to the expansion of the military’s places of action, the government evaluates the expansion of help distribution centers in coordination with the United States, according to press reports.
O Canal 12 From Israel explained that in the first phase of the plan, Israel would issue evacuation alerts to residents of the city of Gaza – approximately half of the Palestinian population – to move to safe places, which would be nominated by Defense Forces (FDI). This first step could last weeks.
During this period, the United States must announce the acceleration of humanitarian aid. US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabe, told the agency Bloomberg On Wednesday (6) there is an effort currently aimed at creating at least 12 more places to deliver help by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
Second Phase: New Military Operations
In a second phase, Israel would begin to work in these little explored regions with financial support from some countries, including the US. According to Canal 12the expansion would be funded for approximately $ 1 billion in external donations.
The operations would have the involvement of four to five divisions from Israel’s Defense Forces (FDI). The broadcaster CAN He reported through unidentified security sources that, in addition to the city of Gaza, the military would act in a region practically without operations so far, the fields in the center of the Enclave.
Trump did not oppose a possible total occupation of Gaza
Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump stated that a total occupation of the Gaza Strip will “depend largely on Israel” without making clear its position.
This alleged plan, however, does not have the support of Israel’s Defense Forces (FDI), which are reluctant to act in places where the hostages are detained by Temer that terrorists in Gaza execute them in the face of the advance of troops (as happened at the end of August 2024 with six kidnappers, found on September 1). In addition, there is a threat to the military themselves as they operate in these regions.
