President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva participates, this Sunday (3), in an event of the Workers Party (PT), in Brasilia. The ceremony ends three days of programming of the subtitle, which brought together political leaders and affiliates from all over the country.
During his speech, Lula commented on the decision of former US President Donald Trump of applying tariffs on Brazilian products. The president stated that “there is a limit” for commercial disputes with the United States, and that Brazil needs to react firmly, but without losing diplomacy.
“We have to learn to impose ourselves without breaking relationships. Fight with the United States has a limit,” said Lula, critical to the measures adopted by Trump, which affect strategic sectors of the Brazilian economy.
During the event, the party aired a video produced with the use of artificial intelligence in defense of the taxation of super rich and betting houses, the “Bets”.
The occasion also marked the inauguration of the former mayor of Araraquara (SP), Edinho Silva, as national president-elect of the PT. In his speech, Edinho stated that the party needs to prepare for a future scenario without the direct leadership of President Lula.
Other important names of the subtitle also spoke. The Minister of Secretariat of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann, spoke about the income tax exemption project for Brazilians who earn up to $ 5,000. Senator Humberto Costa (PT-PE) also participated in the discussions.
The event concludes the internal process of party elections, with the definition of the new national direction of the acronym for the coming years.
