After the United States implemented the Magnitsky Law against Federal Supreme Court (STF) Minister Alexandre de Moraes, the center sees the possibility of amnesty for those involved on January 8. One of the leaders of the House of Representatives, as anonymous, believes that the situation is getting back more and more.
The decision regarding magnitsky law is the result of the diplomatic fight in recent weeks between the United States and Brazil. Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro says that a truce was possible between both if the Amnesty is granted, as he informed President Donald Trump about what happened in the Supreme. The punishment was the application of 50% tariffs on Brazilian products exported to the US.
Senate President David Alcolumbre and House, Hugo Motta, may be the next to suffer from the magnitsky law, according to the deputy. The statement provoked reactions in the Planalto Palace. Minister Gleisi Hoffmann classified Eduardo’s action as an “intolerable crime against democracy”.
Both alcohumbre and Motta have commented on the possible sanctions they may suffer. Both pointed out that no rule imposed by another country is allowed.
“I reaffirm confidence in strengthening our institutions, including the judiciary, an essential element for the preservation of national sovereignty, which is non -negotiable,” said the Senate leader.
“As a sovereign country we cannot support any type of sanction by foreign nations directed to members of any power made up of the Republic,” said the House leader.
Even pressured, Moraes did not retreat on the punishments applied to those involved on January 8.
Appointed as one of the leaders of the incident, former President Jair Bolsonaro was forced to wear an electronic anklet and was restricted to staying at home from 7 pm during the week. Already on Saturdays and Sundays, he is forbidden to leave.
The expectation is that Brazilian parliamentarians will not give in to the pressure of Donald Trump
