Russia’s attack in the capital of Ukraine leaves the former president of Russia Dmitry Medvedev dead on Thursday to a threat made by Donald Trump, and said that the American should remember that Moscow still has the Soviet Nuclear retaliation system known as “dead hand” with high destruction power. The statement was a reaction to a message published by Trump on the Truth Social network. In it, the president of the United States criticized Medvedev for saying that the proposal of tariffs against Russian oil buyers was “a game of ultimatums” that brought the two countries closer to a war. “Say Medvedev, the former failed president of Russia, who thinks he is still president, to be careful with his words. He is entering a very dangerous territory!” Trump wrote. Medvedev answered hours later, on his channel on Telegram. He said Trump has shown to be nervous and that this is a sign that Russia is “on the right track.” The Russian then warned: “Trump should remember how the legendary ‘dead hand’ can be dangerous,” he wrote. The dead hand is an automatic nuclear missile shooting system developed in the Soviet era. He was designed to react if the Russian leadership is eliminated in an attack. The Russian government itself has already referred to the tool as an “apocalyptic weapon”. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Medvedev has become one of Kremlin’s most aggressive voices against the West. Critics consider him irresponsible. But diplomats say their discourses reflect part of Moscow’s strategic thinking. Climbing Trump and Putin Reuters Trump had recently criticized Medvedev for mentioning nuclear weapons by commenting on US attacks against Iran. At the time, Putin’s ally said “several countries” were willing to provide nuclear warheads to Tehran. “Maybe that’s why Putin is ‘the boss’,” Trump wrote at the time. On Tuesday (29), Trump gave Russia 10 days to accept a ceasefire in the Ukraine War. Otherwise, he said the country and his business partners would suffer sanctions. Moscow did not indicate that he will meet the requirement of the president. The Russian government presented its own terms for peace, considered unacceptable by Kiev.
