China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Guo Jiakun, reiterated on Monday (28) Chinese criticism of the 50% tariff on imports of Brazilian products that Donald Trump government threatens to impose from Friday (1st) and said Beijing is “ready” to work with Brasilia to find alternatives based on “equity”.
“China has already made clear its position on US tariff increases over Brazil. I would like to emphasize that tariff wars have no winners and unilateral practices do not meet anyone’s interests,” Guo said in Beijing, according to a report by the Chinese Chancellery.
“China is ready to work with Brazil, other Latin American and Caribbean countries, and BRICS countries to jointly defend the Multilateral WTO -centered trade system [Organização Mundial do Comércio] And in international equity and justice, ”he added.
Spokesman’s statements take place in the end of the deadline for conversations to close American deals on imports of countries and territories worldwide and on the first day of dialogue between Washington and Beijing delegations in Stockholm to decrease commercial tensions.
Negotiations focus on establishing a longer business agreement between the world’s two largest economies by August 12, after a provisional commitment to US imports of the country’s 55% and Chinese tariffs on US products at 10% was announced in June.
