A regional train of passengers derailed on Sunday (27) in a wooded area in southwest Germany, leaving three dead and several injured. The statement was made by the local police.
About one hundred passengers were on board when the accident happened near Riedlingen, 100 km south of Stuttgart.
Two train wagons derailed “for a still unknown reason.” German media mentioned as possible cause a landslide due to heavy rains in the region. The authorities reported that they are “investigating the circumstances of the accident.”
On site, rescue teams were called and helicopters mobilized to remove the injured and refer them to hospitals in the region.
