Latvian armed forces have signed a contract with the local VR Cars company to purchase light tactical vehicles, VR Fox models – a vehicle developed and manufactured in the country.

The information was published by the Latvian Ministry of Defense in an official announcement.
In the first phase, more than 30 VR Fox vehicles are planned to be removed and transported by 2027 is expected. The agreement also begins the beginning of the production of these military off -road vehicles in Latvia, strengthening the safety of the supply chain and promoting the national defense sector.
The total value of the contract has not yet been disclosed.
Origin of the VR Fox project
The development of VR Fox began after tests in February this year. According to Ali Jansons, owner of VR Cars and creator of the concept, the idea of the vehicle was born from the analysis of the market and the recognition of planning limitations of existing models.
Using their experience in the development and maintenance of racing cars, the VR Cars team designed this knowledge based on this knowledge, combining the first military prototype of VR Fox, which combines performance, durability and tactical mobility.
This initiative is an important step towards the technological and operational independence of Latvia’s army.
