Silence has been thinking about her rise to fame.
And in her opinion, it was her 2024 song “Water” that forever changed the game.
“That was insane,” she told E! News at Billboard’s Women in Music event April 29. “My life literally flipped on its head. It was a lot of adjusting, you know? Because where I’m from in South Africa is very different to everything over here, so that moment changed my whole life, honestly.”
But because her rise to fame was so rapid, there was a lot of learning as she went when it came to navigating the music industry.
“I just went with what feels good,” the 24-year-old noted. “And now I feel like I’m at a place where I’m really just having the most fun.”
And her fans are having the most fun, too, with Tyla being one of the biggest reasons that South Africa’s amapiano music has made it worldwide.
