Jamie Ding‘s winning streak on Jeopardy has come to an end.
The TV contestant finally lost a game after 31 straight wins and winning $882,605 in prize money during his successful run on the game show.
Jamie lost in the Monday, April 27 episode to new champ Greg Shahade and he knew he had lost the game before Final Jeopardy even started, giving him the chance to write a goodbye message in his answer.

Greg had a runaway win because he more than double Jamie‘s points heading into Final Jeopardy, making it impossible for him to lose as long as he wagered a low-enough amount of money.
“I think my last game is unusual, because I was a super champ, but I also lost in a runaway, which I feel like is the first time that ever happened,” Jamie told People. “It almost makes me feel better about the thing because there wasn’t really one clue or whatever that everything hinged on.”
Jamie added, “It being a runaway means that I got to write a goodbye message instead of nothing at all. I wouldn’t have done that if there had even been a chance of me coming out with the victory.”
Jamie wrote “TTFN” after his correct answer for Final Jeopardy. This means, “ta ta for now.”
Jamie sits at #5 on the list of the most consecutive games won.
