Hyundai And Genesis Will Launch 58 Models In America By 2030

The body-on-frame Boulder concept we saw this week at the 2026 New York Auto Show is just the tip of the iceberg for a broader product offensive. Hyundai will roll out 36 new or updated models in North America between now and the end of 2030. In a letter to shareholders, CEO José Muñoz said the next-generation Elantra and Tucson will debut in South Korea this year, so expect to see them stateside as early as 2027.

Hyundai intends to flood the U.S. market with passenger cars, SUVs, trucks, and commercial vehicles over the next five years. Additional trim levels, including the high-performance N and the rugged XRT, will complement the model onslaught. To cover all tastes and preferences, there will be a rich mix of gasoline, hybrid, and EV models. Additionally, range-extending electric vehicles are on the way, using a combustion engine to generate electricity and charge the battery.

On the luxury side, Genesis is also keeping busy, planning to launch 22 models within the same timeframe. As with its parent company, not everything will be an SUV; some will be passenger cars. Hyundai’s Mercedes rival also aims to diversify the lineup with new derivatives, more trim levels, and next-generation powertrains.

Hopefully, some of the bold Genesis concepts we’ve seen recently will make it to production. The X Gran Equator has real potential as an alternative to the Mercedes G-Class, while the G90 Wingback would be a welcome addition above the G70 Shooting Brake, which sadly isn’t sold in the U.S.

Elsewhere, the newly founded Magma lineup of performance models will be topped by a production version of the GT concept, which will serve as a full-fledged supercar. At the other end of the lineup, the G70 may receive a second facelift and soldier on for a while, although Genesis has yet to confirm these reports.

The Hyundai Motor Group is delivering a one-two punch to the competition by targeting both mainstream and luxury segments. With a massive $26 billion investment planned in the United States to support these efforts, it aims to offer something for everyone. With 58 models across the two brands, the next five years will be extremely busy.


Motor1’s Take: It’s always good to have more options, and it looks as though Hyundai and Genesis are working to fill any gaps in their lineups. That effort will even include a body-on-frame midsize pickup launching in 2029 with the Hyundai badge. A truck-based SUV version is likely among the 36 Hyundai models, given that the Boulder featured an enclosed cabin.

Whether Genesis will join the body-on-frame push remains unclear, but the X Gran Equator suggests an off-road luxury vehicle is a distinct possibility. Among the many recent concepts, there was even the X Scorpio all-terrain supercar, a Korean take on the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato.

Safe to say both Hyundai and Genesis are cooking.
