The tremor occurred at a depth of 10 km, according to the USGS. There were no reports of victims until the last update of this report. The epicenter is located near the coast of Ternate, a small island with around 210 thousand inhabitants. A tsunami warning was even issued. The wave generated reached the coastal region 0.3 meters high.
