Iran threatens to attack US-linked companies and big techs in the Middle East Amazon’s cloud computing operation in Bahrain was harmed after an attack by Iran, according to information from the Financial Times published this Wednesday (1st). ✅ Follow the g1 international news channel on WhatsApp According to a source heard by the newspaper, the Amazon Web Services (AWS) unit in the Gulf country suffered damage after the Iranian offensive, amid the conflict in the region. Earlier, Bahrain’s Ministry of the Interior reported that civil defense teams were called in to contain a fire at a business facility, caused by what it classified as “Iranian aggression”. The agency, however, did not detail which company was affected. The episode comes a day after Iran’s Revolutionary Guard threatened to attack American companies operating in the Middle East. Among the targets cited were technology giants such as Microsoft, Apple, Google and Meta. Amazon was not on the list released by the corporation. When contacted by Reuters, Amazon did not directly comment on the specific attack. Still, according to the Financial Times, AWS facilities in the region have been hit several times since the start of the conflict. In response to these operations, from now on, the main institutions involved in terrorist operations will be our legitimate targets. We advise employees of these institutions to leave their workplaces immediately, for their own safety. Residents of areas near these terrorist enterprises, in all countries in the region, should also evacuate within a one kilometer radius and search a safe place”, says the text.
