Trump says he is negotiating with “new regime” in Iran

by Syndicated News

US President Donald Trump declared this Monday (30) that he is holding “serious” talks with a new regime in Iran, while at the same time reiterating his threats against the country’s electrical and oil facilities “if an agreement is not reached soon.”

In a message on Truth Social, Trump said there is “great progress” in negotiations with figures parallel to the current supreme leader to end military operations in Iran. He did not give details of what is being discussed between the countries.

On the other hand, he warned: “if for some reason an agreement is not reached soon – which will probably happen – and if the Strait of Hormuz is not ‘open for business’ immediately, we will end our lovely ‘stay’ in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of its power plants, oil wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all of its desalination plants!), which we have not yet ‘touched’, on purpose.”

The American president said this would happen in retaliation for the deaths of US soldiers during the 47-year “reign of terror” of the former ayatollahs’ regime.

Trump announced the postponement of his ultimatum to Iran to unblock the Strait of Hormuz until April 6 in order to give time for negotiations to move forward. At the same time, the US is increasing its military presence in the Middle East, sending around 50,000 troops, while the Pentagon evaluates a possible ground incursion into Iran.
