Food delivery robots in Chicago and Detroit (USA) were filmed destroying bus stops and hitting pedestrians on city sidewalks.
According to CBS Chicagothe robots in question belong to two robotics companies, Serve Robotics and C Robotics. One of them was seen breaking the glass of a bus stop last Sunday, while another was involved in a similar incident on Tuesday afternoon.
A video of the Sunday incident showed the delivery robot “Nasir” from Serve Robotics crashing into the glass panel of a city bus stop. The crash left shards of glass scattered across the sidewalk and on top of the robot, which then attempted to move over the debris.
On Tuesday, a food delivery robot from C Robotics was also involved in a similar incident after destroying a bus stop in another part of the city. “This is happening all the time—every time you look up, the robot goes by, bumping into people,” local barber Anthony Spaulding told CBS.
Both tech companies issued statements saying they were aware of the incidents, quickly cleaned up the mess, and are investigating the case. Both C Robotics and Serve are also covering the cost of repairs for the bus stops damaged by their robots.

The robots from C Robotics are virtually monitored by humans, while Serve’s robots operate fully autonomously unless human intervention is required.
The two companies are currently operating in parts of Chicago under a food delivery robot pilot program approved in 2022. Since then, a petition to pause the program has gathered more than 3,700 signatures.

Everyone thinks these delivery robots are cute until they start destroying city infrastructure.🧐
This 160-pound AI bot in Chicago just drove straight through the glass pane of a bus stop, showering itself in shattered glass. Now its sensors are so scrambled by the debris that… pic.twitter.com/G8hzBvEjp5
