Mexico bets on Senator armored vehicle to reinforce security against organized crime (X @NoahGairn)

Mexico decided to incorporate the Senator MRAP armored vehicles, manufactured by the Canadian company Roshel, into its arsenal, following successful tests carried out by military and police forces.

The choice comes amid an increase in threats linked to organized crime, which has pressured the country to invest in safer mobility solutions for its operations.

Developed on the Ford F-550 chassis, the model stood out during evaluations conducted at the end of last year. Contrary to initial information, the vehicle does not use the RAM platform. Approval after testing indicates that the Mexican government is looking for reliable equipment to operate in high-risk scenarios, marked by ambushes and attacks with light weapons.

Designed for multiple roles, the Senator can be employed in troop transport, patrolling and internal security missions. Its modular structure allows adaptations according to operational needs, while the use of a commercial chassis facilitates scaled production and speeds up deliveries — an essential factor in emergency acquisitions.

The vehicle is already widely used in recent conflicts, especially in Ukraine, where thousands of units were delivered and used in a variety of missions, such as evacuating the wounded and moving troops. With reinforced armor and a raised structure to mitigate explosions, the Senator is part of the MRAP category, designed to increase the protection and survival of teams in combat.
