Italian court approves extradition of Zambelli

by Syndicated News

The Rome Court of Appeal decided to approve, this Thursday (26), the extradition of former federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PL). The information was confirmed by the defense. The decision was communicated in an official letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The defense will present two appeals to the Court of Cassation, one against the extradition itself and the other questioning the impartiality of the judges. The deadline to appeal is 15 days. If the decision is upheld, she must serve her sentence in the Federal District Women’s Penitentiary, known as “Colmeia”.

The trial concluded two weeks ago and a sentence was expected in five days. With the delay, lawyers predicted that the request would be denied.

Zambelli was sentenced to ten years in prison by the Federal Supreme Court (STF), accused of paying Walter Delgatti Neto, known as the “Araraquara Hacker”, to invade the systems of the National Council of Justice (CNJ).
