According to the American press, the proposal has 15 points and was sent to Iran through Pakistan. The plan has requirements on weapons and the country’s uranium enrichment. See some demands: Iran’s commitment not to develop nuclear weapons; limiting the range and number of missiles; the decommissioning of the Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow uranium enrichment plants; the end of funding for allied groups in the region, such as Hamas and Hezbollah; the creation of a free maritime zone in the Strait of Hormuz. The “Wall Street Journal” states that the United States has offered to lift economic sanctions imposed on Iran in the context of its nuclear program. The Americans also said they can assist and monitor the civilian nuclear program for peaceful purposes. Also according to the newspaper, the plan follows, in general terms, what the United States already defended in negotiations before the start of the war, on February 28. On the other hand, Iran may demand reparations for recent bombings. According to Israel’s Channel 12, the plan also provides for a 30-day ceasefire to advance negotiations. This Wednesday, Iran used the state press to publicly reject the proposal. In a statement, Tehran called the plan “excessive and disconnected from reality” and said that US President Donald Trump will not dictate an end to the conflict. “Iran will end the war when it chooses to do so and when its own conditions are met,” the Iranian government said, according to Press TV. The Iranian government also said it had sent a counterproposal with five conditions under which Iran would agree to end the war. They include: the complete cessation of “aggression and murder” by the “enemy”; the establishment of concrete mechanisms to ensure that war is not resumed; compensation and reparations for damages caused during the war; the end of the war on all fronts and for all resistance groups involved throughout the region; Iran’s “exercise of sovereignty” over the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian officials also said that these demands are in addition to other demands already presented by Tehran during a round of negotiations with the US held just days before the start of the war.
