Data National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) revealed that car theft rates fell 23% last year compared to the previous year. Still, a car is stolen every 48 seconds in the United States.
A total of 659,880 vehicles were stolen in the country last year alone, according to the website Car and Driver. Of this total, around 137,000 occurred in the state of California alone, which leads the ranking with almost twice as many occurrences as the second and third placed, New York and New Jersey.
But which are the most stolen models? If you think that more expensive vehicles appear more prominent to potential thieves, you would be surprised to discover that the most stolen car in the United States in 2025 is the Hyundai Elantra.
O Honda Accord comes in second and, in third, another Hyundai: o Sonata. All three are popular cars that can be found anywhere, but the rest of the ranking also includes two pickup trucks: the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the Ford F-150.
