Scottie Scheffler is teeing up for life as a dad of two.
The current top ranked golfer in the world has abruptly backed out of the upcoming Houston Open, according to the Golf Channel.
Although the PGA Tour, which sponsors the event, didn’t share insight into why Scottie withdrew, the Golf Channel confirmed he did so as his wife Meredith Scheffler prepares to give birth to their second baby.
The 29-year-olddad to their son Bennett22 months, had been favored to win the Houston Open this year after finishing up as a runner-up the past three times he played. Though he’s previously fallen short in Houston, 2025 saw him walk away with two majors—the PGA Championship and the British Open—to join his pair of previous Masters wins.
But despite his many accolades, Scottie has often been vocal about the fact that winning is secondary to raising his family with Meredith.
