Coal-powered car becomes a symbol of Cubans’ improvisation to deal with lack of fuel in the country in crisis

Without gasoline and without regular public transport, the vehicle draws attention due to its rudimentary operation. At the rear, a metal compartment houses the coal, which is burned to generate the gas needed to run the engine. The technology is old, used in times of war and extreme scarcity, but it has returned to circulation as a possible alternative for those who have no other transportation option.
