The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, was one of the main attractions of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), held in Budapest, Hungary, where he spoke at the closing ceremony, this Saturday (21). Praised by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán as the “world star of Western values”, the libertarian criticized the failure of socialist experiments such as the Soviet Union, Cuba and Venezuela and praised a new era of “reconfiguration of the world order”, under the command of Donald Trump, which should result in Cuban liberation “before the middle of the year”.
During the trip, the first by an Argentine president to the country, Milei was also awarded the title of doctor honoris causa by Ludovika University, in Budapest, in recognition of his political and economic career.
During his speech at CPAC, Milei criticized the “nanny state” model and European migration policies, in addition to classifying his Spanish counterpart, Pedro Sánchez, as a “tyrant’s cub”.
In this sense, the libertarian praised Orbán, whom he defined as “a leader of exceptional courage”, highlighting his position on the issue of immigration. “He was the first to say that uncontrolled mass immigration was not an act of generosity, but of irresponsibility,” he said.
For the Argentine, Europe’s economic stagnation is due to poor management and policies that “consider the economy as a cake and focus on distributing it instead of making it grow”. He also assured that Argentina can become an energy supplier to Europe, bringing “energy security” to the continent, thanks to an “investment fever” in this sector.
“Europe has sought energy independence for years. We offer it something better: a reliable partner, with enormous reserves and a government that honors its contracts. By 2030, we will export more than 30 billion dollars per year”, he projected.
Still on Argentine internal politics, Milei praised the economic measures of his administration, which led to a 30% reduction in public spending and should have a significant impact on GDP over the next six months. “We made the biggest adjustment in the history of humanity,” he highlighted.
Meeting with Orbán
Earlier on Saturday, Orbán received Milei, whom he defined as one of the main references in the international cultural battle. “Today, Argentina is a bastion of right-wing forces and Javier, as you will see, is a global star of Western values,” said the Hungarian prime minister. “It is the first time in the history of our nations that an Argentine president has visited Hungary. We are very happy.”
According to Milei, Argentina and Hungary have in common clarity about the ideological agenda of international institutions and, therefore, “are embracing the winds of change”. “That’s why we support initiatives like that of the President of the United States, Donald Trump”, declared the Argentine president, in reference to Trump’s Peace Council, which both he and Viktor Orbán joined.

Founded in 1974, in the USA, by the American Conservative Union, CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) is the largest international right-wing event, bringing together political leaders against globalism, in defense of national sovereignty, traditional values and individual freedom.
In addition to Milei, another attraction in this edition of the event was André Ventura, leader of the Portuguese party Chega and former candidate for president of Portugal, who paid tribute to former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro in his speech. Ventura invited “the whole world and all of Europe” to thank Bolsonaro for the “fight against corruption” and “for freedom”.
