Iran launched missiles known as “cluster bombs” against Israel this Wednesday (18). Some bombs surpassed the Israeli defense, causing the death of two people in the center of the country.
According to the Iranian government, the missiles were aimed at central Israel as a response to the deaths of two important figures in the Iranian regime, Ali Larijani, head of Iran’s Supreme Security Council, and the head of the Basij militia, Gholamreza Soleimani.
There is a 2008 convention that prohibits the use of this type of ammunition, but neither Israel nor Iran are signatories, which makes them feel not obliged to follow it.
