The Federal Police (PF) opened an investigation this Tuesday (18) to investigate possible abusive practices in the formation of fuel prices at gas stations across the country. The investigation began after the National Consumer Secretariat and the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels identified signs of price increases without justification compatible with the sector’s costs.
The PF investigates crimes against the tax and economic order, consumer relations and against the popular economy, with Procons from the 26 states and the Federal District mobilized. Furthermore, the Ministry of Justice announced this Tuesday the opening of an investigation.
According to the ministry, it is unacceptable to claim that the impact of the war in the Middle East is a factor in the rise in prices. Around 669 gas stations, 64 distributors and a refinery were inspected. The National Petroleum Agency also began an inspection operation in the country.
