Deadline to contest illegal INSS discounts ends next Friday

by Marcelo Moreira

Next Friday (20), the deadline for people to contest illegal discounts from the National Institute of Social Service (INSS) ends. However, even after this date, anyone who is entitled can still apply for reimbursement.

According to the most recent balance released by the INSS, around 6.5 million refund requests have already been registered. Of this total, 4.3 million payments have already been released, totaling almost 3 billion reais.

According to information from Social Security, around 760,000 people have already contested the discounts, but have not yet completed the stage of joining the agreement in order to receive reimbursement. To access the money, these beneficiaries still need to formalize their participation in the agreement.

To dispute values or accept the agreement, the procedure is free. Furthermore, it is not necessary to send any documents during the process.

The INSS also reinforces that it does not send links via message, SMS or apps asking for personal data. It also does not charge fees or request intermediaries to carry out the service.

All official contact must only be made through authorized channels: Meu INSS application, INSS website, Telephone Center 135 or through Post Offices.

For those who took legal action

Even those who have already filed a lawsuit requesting compensation can opt for the administrative agreement. However, to adhere to this alternative, it will be necessary to withdraw from the ongoing legal process.
