This week, the work of the technical committee formed by representatives of the Three Powers to analyze the end of the so-called “perks”, benefits and compensations that can increase the salaries of magistrates above the public service ceiling, ends this week. At the end of the meetings, the group must deliver a technical note to the ministers of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
The commission was created after a meeting between the president of the STF, Edson Fachin, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta, and the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre. The objective of the meeting was to seek a solution to discuss benefit payments that may exceed the salary limit set for public service.
Despite this, the technical group will not have decision-making power on the topic. After completing the note, the document will be forwarded to the rapporteurs of the process at the STF: Flávio Dino, Gilmar Mendes and Alexandre de Moraes.
The debate has generated repercussions among judges. According to the Associative Front of the Judiciary and the Public Ministry, the category faces a salary gap. The expectation is that the STF will judge the case on March 25th, under the report of Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
