The Israeli Army once again carried out bombings against Lebanon between the night of Sunday (15) and the early hours of Monday (16), local time, afternoon and night Brasília time. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, at least ten people died in the most recent attacks.
In a statement released on social media, the Israel Defense Forces reported that they had struck “Hezbollah terrorist infrastructures” in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
The state-run Lebanese National News Agency reported that the bombings occurred mainly in the southern outskirts of Beirut, a region that has been a frequent target of attacks since the escalation of the conflict began. Hours earlier, offensives had also been recorded in several cities in the south of the country, an area that remains one of the main focuses of Israeli military operations.
According to data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, two deaths were recorded after an attack on the city of Majdal Selm, while three other people died in a bombing in the town of Aytit. In the district of Jezzine, another attack left five fatalities.
Israeli bombings on Lebanese territory have occurred continuously since March 2, when the regional conflict intensified following clashes involving the United States, Israel and Iran. Since then, more than 800 people have died in Lebanon as a result of the offensives. The new phase of the war began after Hezbollah, a terrorist group backed by Iran, launched attacks against northern Israel in response to military actions against Tehran. So far, the group’s offensives against Israeli territory have been limited in scope, while Israel maintains frequent attacks on Lebanese soil.
