The chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Commission, Ebrahim Azizi, stated this Saturday (14) that Ukraine, by providing aid to the US and Israel, became involved in the war and made its territory a “legitimate target” for Iran.
“By providing drone support to the Israeli regime, Ukraine, which failed, de facto became involved in the war and, in accordance with the UN Charter, made its entire territory a legitimate target for Iran,” he said.
On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met in Paris with Reza Pahlavi, the exiled opposition leader and son of the last shah, with whom he discussed the situation in Iran and what he called “the US operation against the terrorist regime.”
In their joint appearance, the Kiev leader noted that Ukraine has sent teams of experts to Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to share their experience in shooting down Iranian-made drones such as the Shahed.
Zelensky called for greater protection for the Iranian people so that they can decide their own destiny without Tehran benefiting from the current situation.
He also advocated increased international pressure and joint efforts to achieve these goals, expressing his desire to see “a free Iran” that does not collaborate with Russia or destabilize the Middle East, Europe and the world.
Last week, Zelensky announced in an interview with The New York Times the sending of interceptor drones and a group of experts to the Middle East to help countries neighboring Iran that were targets of attacks.
