A district judge from Boston, in the United States, has temporarily blocked a policy of Donald Trump’s government aimed at cutting federal funds to promote abortion.
Magistrate Indira Talwani, appointed by former Democratic President Barack Obama, made the decision hours after Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the United States, to file the action in court to veto the measure.
The federal government filed an appeal arguing that the rapid order of temporary restriction was “highly uncommon” and did not provide explanations of the reason for the judge to block part of the fiscal plan approved by the US Congress.
The magistrate then replied that her decision was “necessary” to avoid interruptions in “health care” until she could hear the parties’ arguments on July 18.
Following the Trump administration’s demand, Talwani issued a new order, in which he clarified that he had concluded that Planned Parenthood would probably succeed in proving that the law violated the American Constitution.
Days ago, the abortion provider stated that the Republican leader’s policy would have its activities target for its activities. According to the organization, Trump’s measure could result in the closing of one third of its 600 abortionist centers in the country.
