The Armed Forces of Romania received a new delivery 20 Cobra II armored vehiclesproduced by a Turkish company Otokar.
The vehicles have already started to be distributed among the various military units in the country, enhancing the mobility and operational capabilities of the units.
The information was published by a Turkish journalist Muhammet Metin on his page on the social network X. According to the post, the transfer of vehicles to the Romanian army took place on March 4th.
This new delivery is part of a wider program to modernize the Romanian ground forces. IN July 2025 the country has already received others 40 Cobra II armored vehicleswhich began the integration of this model into its military units.
The agreement between Romania and Otokar was signed in November 2024. The contract includes not only the delivery of vehicles, but also local production in cooperation with the Romanian defense industry.
In total, Romania should receive 1,059 Cobra II light armored vehicles within the program worth approx 857 million euros. Part of the production should take place in the country and include facilities associated with the state company Romtechnica.
Under the terms of the contract, the company Otokar also agreed to pay a fine of approximately 40 million euros due to delays in initial vehicle deliveries and setting up a local production line.
The Cobra II is a 4×4 armored vehicle designed for patrol, reconnaissance and transport missions, widely used by military and security forces in various countries.
While Otokar continues its Cobra II deliveries to Romania, the Romanian Army has started to distribute the vehicles it has put into service to the troops.🇹🇷🇷🇴
