Russia allegedly shot down its own military helicopter during Ukrainian drone attack in Rostov region, according to Ukrainian portal Militarnyi.

The information was widely shared on Russian Telegram channels. According to the report, the incident occurred on the night of Tuesday (3) near the town of Millerovo, Russia.

The crew members of the Russian helicopter were killed in the incident, but the exact number of deaths has not yet been disclosed. The model of the helicopter shot down by “friendly fire” also remains unknown.

The incident occurred during a large Ukrainian drone attack in the Rostov region. According to MilitarnyiRussian forces likely sent the device to intercept the drones, but something apparently went wrong.

As of Wednesday morning (4), no official statement had yet been released regarding the downed helicopter. Yury Slyusarthe governor of the Russian region, only reported an attack by “dozens of Ukrainian UAVs” the previous night.

On Telegram, many pro-Kremlin users speculated that Russian air defenses likely shot down the aircraft after mistaking it for a Ukrainian drone.
