Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan declared that “any action that could lead to escalation of the conflict must be avoided.” The official said the fragments that fell in the Dörtyol district of Hatay province belong to the missile used in the interception. The ministry also stated that, even with the country defending regional peace, it is “fully capable of safeguarding its territory and its citizens, regardless of the source or origin of any threat”.
