Teddy Mellencamp is recuperating after a scary illness.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star recently shared that she spent time in the hospital after contracting a rare and high-risk illness, Stevens-Johnson’s syndrome, which is a disorder of the skin and mucous membranes.
“I hadn’t felt good for a couple days,” Teddi recalled to her friend and cohost Tamra Judge during the March 3 episode of Two Ts in a Pod. “I thought I had the flu and then I woke up one day and my whole body was just covered in this terrible rash—you can’t even say it’s a rash because they’re almost like sores, like, all over my entire body.”
Teddi, who added that the sores“hurt and burned” kept calm amid the alarming situation and went to urgent care, thinking it would have an easy fix. However, she was told by her doctor, “‘You need to go to the ER right now.’”
“Essentially what happened was I was given a new medication and I was allergic to it,” she said of what caused the illness, which she explained is “a rare life-threatening medical emergency causing severe, painful blisters of the skin and mucous membranes.”
