Germany plans to reinforce its artillery with the acquisition of around 500 MARS 3 rocket launchers, also known as EuroPULS.

The Ministry of Defense intends to sign a framework agreement to make the purchase viable, which Parliament should analyze in the second half of 2026, according to information released by the hartpunkt portal.

Half of the systems will be destined directly to the Bundeswehr, while the other part can be acquired by allied countries under the same commercial conditions and for the same price offered to the German Armed Forces. The measure is part of a broader effort to modernize and expand long-range fire capabilities.

In addition to the launchers, the government is preparing billion-dollar contracts to purchase ammunition. The expectation is that, by 2030, troops will receive tens of thousands of artillery rockets with a range of up to 150 kilometers, significantly strengthening the country’s deterrence power.

Plans also include the future incorporation of rockets with a range of 300 km, roving munitions and specialized missiles for long-range mining. In the medium term, Germany is considering integrating weapons with a range of up to 500 km, including joint projects by national industry and the adaptation of existing missiles.
