Groups seeking more autonomy within Iran plan to step up fighting against government forces. According to members of the Trump administration to the American press, the United States intends to arm Kurdish militants in the coming weeks.
The CIA is keen to reach out to rivals of the ayatollahs’ regime in search of an internal uprising while the White House and Israel promise to maintain the bombing campaign. Although Donald Trump does not confirm talks with the Kurds, he has already asked the Iranian population to take to the streets to overthrow the government.
According to American media, Trump had spoken by phone over the weekend with Kurdish leaders. The Kurds are a people spread across different countries and who ask for the creation of their own state. In Iran, they represent about 10 percent of the inhabitants. More than 20 years ago, they formed an armed group that fought against the Iranian regime, without much success.
