Brazilian GDP grows 2.3% in 2025

According to data released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), released this Tuesday (3), the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ended 2025 with growth of 2.3%. In current values, the 2025 GDP reached R$12.7 trillion. The three economic activities analyzed by IBGE grew: Agriculture (11.7%), Services (1.8%), Industry (1.4%). The GDP per capita reached R$59,687.49, with real growth of 1.9% compared to 2024. The result represents the fifth consecutive year of growth.

The 11.7% growth in Agriculture in 2025 was mainly due to increases in production and gains in the productivity of several crops, with emphasis on corn (23.6%) and soybeans (14.6%), which reached records in 2025. Livestock also contributed positively.

For the industry, the positive highlight was the extraction of oil and gas, contributing to the added value of Extractive Industries closing 2025 with an increase of 8.6%. Another positive contribution came from Construction, which changed 0.5% in the year. On the other hand, Electricity and gas, water, sewage, waste management activities (-0.4%) and Manufacturing Industries (-0.2%) closed the year with negative numbers.

The Services sector remained strong in 2025, with growth in all its activities: Information and communication (6.5%), Financial activities, insurance and related services (2.9%), Transport, storage and mail (2.1%), Other service activities (2.0%), Real estate activities (2.0%), Commerce (1.1%) and Administration, defense, public health and education and social security (0.5%).

In the fourth quarter of 2025, GDP varied 0.1% compared to the previous quarter, in the seasonally adjusted series, remaining practically stable. Services and Agriculture grew 0.8% and 0.5%, respectively. Industry fell 0.7%. On the expenditure side, Government Consumption grew 1.0%, while Family Consumption remained stable (0.0%) and Gross Fixed Capital Formation fell 3.5%.
