Iranian state TV confirms Khamenei’s death Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Chief of Judiciary Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei and one of the jurists on the Guardian Council will temporarily assume leadership of the country, according to Iranian state media. The announcement comes after the death of the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in attacks on Iran coordinated by the United States and Israel. The trio should only remain in power until Khamenei’s successor is defined. According to the country’s Constitution, the new leader must be chosen by the Assembly of Experts. Updating.
