The board of governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency will hold an emergency meeting on Monday morning (2) to discuss the attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran, which took place on Saturday (28). The call was confirmed in an official statement from the agency.
The IAEA is the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog and has been monitoring Iran’s nuclear program for years.
The extraordinary meeting was requested by Russia, according to information released by CNN Brazil. Under the council’s rules, any member country can call an emergency session.
The meeting will begin an hour before the quarterly council meeting, which was already scheduled and which had, among the topics on the agenda, Iran’s nuclear program.

According to the agency, so far there is no evidence of radiological impact. The IAEA also informed that it is in permanent contact with the countries involved and will continue to monitor the situation.
“The IAEA is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East and urges caution to avoid any nuclear safety risks to people in the region. The IAEA is in permanent contact with countries in the region and, to date, there is no evidence of any radiological impact. The Agency will continue to monitor the situation and report,” the agency wrote in X.
