Director Dennis Carvalho dies, aged 78

Director Dennis Carvalho died this Saturday (28), aged 78. The information about his death was confirmed by the press office at Copa Star Hospital, where he was admitted, to Band.

“Copa Star Hospital confirms with regret the passing of Dennis de Carvalho this Saturday and sympathizes with his family, friends and fans for this irreparable loss. The hospital also informs that it does not have the family’s authorization to disclose further details”, states the Copa Star statement.

Dennis Carvalho leaves three children and a series of productions that marked the history of Brazilian television.

Born in São Paulo, Dennis Carvalho debuted on television in 1964, taken by his mother to TV Paulista for a test on the soap opera “Oliver Twist”.

From soap operas, Dennis went into dubbing and theater, debuting alongside Aracy Balabanian in “Hair”. But he soon returned to TV on Tupi, in “Ídolos de Pano”. At Globo, Dennis Carvalho had successes in directing and acting. He acted in “Roque Santeiro”, which was censored in 1975 and produced “Pecado Capital”. At the station, Dennis has an extensive career.

He signed soap operas such as “Desejos de Mulher”, “Paraíso Tropical”, “Lado a Lado”, “Dancing Days”, “Fera Ferida”, “Explode Coração” “O Dono do Mundo” and the first version of “Vale Tudo”. In addition, he signed the comedy “Sai de Baixo”. The last soap opera directed by Dennis Carvalho was “Segundo Sol”.

The director was married to renowned actresses, such as Deborah Evelyn, Tássia Camargo and Christiane Torloni. He had four children: Leonardo, Guilherme, Luiza and Tainá.
