Kelly Ripa Shares Advice From Oprah Winfrey on Eventually Leaving ‘Live With Kelly and Mark’
Kelly Ripa may not have gotten a car from Oprah Winfreybut she did receive a valuable piece of career advice.
The Live with Kelly and Mark co-host revealed the wise words of advice she received when she questioned if it was time to finally end her talk show after 25 years.
“Let me give Oprah credit,” Kelly told Variety in an interview published on Feb. 25. “She left her show at the 25-year mark, and I said to her, ‘Should this be my signal?’ She’s like, ‘Don’t leave. Don’t do it. Right now, you’ll regret it.’”
The 55-year-old continued, “She said, ‘With you and Mark, the dynamic, the show is more important than ever. People really relate to it, and they need that in this world of a lot of darkness and an endless 24-hour, never-ending news cycle.’”
Kelly first took Live’s co-hosting reins in 2001 beside Regis Philbin. After he left the show in 2011, Kelly was joined by Michael Strahan from 2012 until 2016 and Ryan Seacrest from 2017 to 2023. Her husband Mark Consueloswho made several guest host appearances through the years, officially joined the show as her permanent co-host in April 2023.
