The president of South Korea, Lee Jae-myung, published this Monday (23) a video produced using artificial intelligence (AI) in which he appears alongside president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). In the video, he shows images of the two as humble children. The sequence evolves from childhood photos to current records of the meeting between the two heads of state during the Brazilian’s official visit to Seoul.
In the post in which he shared the video, the South Korean leader wrote that “two working-class boys became presidents and met.” He added that both had “wounds, but not scars”, that they learned “wisdom on the job” and that, despite adversity, they were “saved by the people”.
“That’s why we are brothers. To President Brother Lula, I offer this video”, said Lee, marking the Brazilian leader’s official profile on the X network.
Before the meeting, Lee had already published another message praising Lula. On the occasion, he stated that the Brazilian president “proved with his entire body that democracy is the most useful tool for social and economic development” and declared that Lula’s political path “is very similar” to his own trajectory.
Lee Jae-myung assumed the South Korean presidency last year after the impeachment of Yoon Suk-yeol, a president who attempted a coup d’état. As a young man, Lee worked in factories and grew up in a low-income family, a trajectory he often mentions as part of his personal and political formation.
Lula met with Lee this Monday, in Seoul. The Brazilian president is paying a state visit to South Korea, with an agenda focused on expanding bilateral trade and signing agreements in the areas of critical minerals, technology and economic cooperation.
During an agenda in Seoul, Lula defended the expansion of Brazilian agricultural trade with South Korea and criticized trade protectionism.
