The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta, announced that, given the uncertainties surrounding the imposition of tariffs by the United States, the vote on the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union will take place next week.
The information was confirmed this Saturday afternoon (21), through a note on social media. Motta appointed deputy Marcos Pereira, president of the Republicans and former minister of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services, to report on the project in the plenary.
At the same time, Donald Trump, president of the United States, also announced this afternoon that he will raise global import tariffs to 15%. The North American’s decision is part of a reaction from the White House to the country’s Supreme Court that overturned the tariffs imposed last year.
