by Marcelo Moreira

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated this Saturday (21) that Brazil is committed to maintaining South America as a zone of peace. The president spoke alongside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi during his visit to India.

Lula also defended the renewal of the United Nations (UN) Security Council to one with more representation, which represents the interests of the Global South and which has Brazil and India as natural candidates.

The president also stated in his speech that it is important to remind the press that for more than 20 years; Brazil, India, Germany and Japan created a group called “G4” whose purpose is to defend the expansion of the UN security council. Lula reinforced that, even if growth has not happened so far, he hopes it will happen soon.
