Amber Glenn’s Sister Reacts to Online Criticism

by Marcelo Moreira

Amber Glenn‘s sister is coming to her defense.

Brooke Glenn called out critics of the decorated figure skater, who won a gold medal alongside Team USA in the 2026 Winter Olympics.

“As I cheer on my sister, Amber Glenn, during her first-ever Olympics, I’m so proud of the person and athlete she is,” Brooke wrote in a Feb. 19 op-ed for Teen Vogue. “And, of course, with that love comes a fierce desire to protect her from the ugliness and hate I’m seeing online.”

As Brooke explained, hate started “pouring in” for Amber after she said in a press conference at the Olympics that “it’s been a hard time” for the LGBTQ+ community. (During the press conference, the 26-year-old—who placed fifth in the free skate event—noted, “It isn’t the first time that we’ve had to come together as a community and try and fight for our human rights.”)

As far as Brooke saw it, though, Amber’s comments didn’t deserve the hate that she’s been subject to in the days since.

“This isn’t criticism,” Brooke wrote, “this is an attempt to strip away someone’s humanity, all because what she’s saying is different and scary to them.”
