União de Maricá won the Rio de Janeiro Carnival Gold Series and, for the first time, moved up to the Special Group of samba schools. The result was announced this Thursday (19).
The winning team scored 269.4 points and won the title even with the loss of two tenths for going two minutes past the mandatory time.
União de Maricá took the plot to the Marquês de Sapucaí Sambadrome Berenguendens and balangandãswhich told the story of jewelry produced by black people in Brazil, with emphasis on balangandãs: adornments, ornaments and jewelry made and used by black women in the colonial and imperial periods.
