A 17-year-old student died, and three other students were injured. Brazilian authorities also prevented three other attacks planned by young people between the ages of 12 and 14. The defendant decided to remain silent at the first hearing. The lawyer stated that he is not “a monster”. “He was part of a group, but he never led that group,” said Carlos Duarte, quoted by the Lusa agency. Known by the pseudonym Mikazz, the young man led “an online life, a parallel life, in which he was the leader of a group that practiced and exposed acts of extreme violence”, said the Portuguese Judicial Police inspector who led the investigation, Ana Rita Alves.
