A Mercedes-Benz recently announced a major update to its S-Class model line. Among the many novelties, the extremely luxurious fabric upholstery used in the passenger compartment stands out.
From the basic version, that is S350d available from model onwards, the upholstery combines artificial leather on the outer parts, while fabric made of linen and recycled polyester is used in the middle of the seat.

Surprisingly, this new fabric option doesn’t appear as a cheaper alternative. On the contrary, customers have to pay a premium for it.

A Carscoops says, opting for cloth seats requires the purchase of the “Electrically adjustable rear seats with memory function” package, which adds €1,856.40 (about US$2,200) to the car’s final price.
Buyers who still prefer the original material won’t be left out, as all-black genuine leather is available as an option at no extra cost.
Prices for the new S-Class have not yet been announced. Considering the starting price of the previous model is US$119,500, it is reasonable to assume that the updated version will be slightly more expensive.
